What kind of future do you really want? It’s quite an important, meaty question – right? This question covers all the important bases in one lean sentence: where do you want to live…where do you want to travel…what do you want to eat…. and with whom do you want to do all of these things? It’s kind of a tricky question to answer, but when it comes to true lifestyle design, it’s a biggie. So, Hipster’s question for you today is this: what kind of future do you really, really want? It’s a tough question – but it’s one that’s totally taking some time to really think about and answer. What follows are some guiding questions (and a tad bit of advice)!
1. List Out Your Future Goals
You can make a neat, numbered list. You can make a vision board and get crazy with a glue stick. It doesn’t matter just how you do it – what matter is that you do it. List out your future goals. See your future – and know what it is you want to achieve in life, in love, in cash-flow (yes – the whole nine yards….). Devote real time to this exercise: why? Because it matters. What you do now, and tomorrow, and the day after that (and so on) – it all creates your future.
2. Narrow Your List Down
Ok – so now you’ve got this amazing list done of everything you want to achieve… congratulations! You’ve taken one giant leap into the future. Your work, however, just isn’t done yet. How big is your list: probably fairly large, right? That’s a good thing – but too big of a list just isn’t going to get you where you want to be that fast. Think about a lightly designed race car compared to a freight truck: which moves faster? Lighten your load – drop whatever isn’t absolutely off your list at once. Focus on what you really, really want.
3. Get Ready For Take-Off!
Ok- you know what you want…exactly what you want. Wooooooot! Now, it’s time to get ready for take-off. Now, it’s time to make some life changes to get you to where you need to be. Stop whatever you’re doing that’s not directly in line with your goals. Resign. Clear clutter. Face fears. Next, focus on starting to achieve. Prioritize your goals: we really can’t say this enough. Go through your narrowed down list and number it. Whatever ends up being number one is your personal launching point. Go after that number one spot with gusto!
Key Takeaway For Everyone:
Planning your future is essential to ENJOYING it to its fullest. Don’t end up settling for 2nd best or whatever comes your way – fight, and fly (Marty McFly, for those of you familiar with the ’80’s) into it.
Key Takeaway For Real Estate Investors:
Make a strategy for your wealth creation. Dream. Narrow down. Prioritize. Then – go for it. Don’t be afraid of your future and what you create: embrace it with open arms.
